Thomas A. Reilly Jr. | Bank executive, 80

Thomas A. Reilly Jr., 80, of Harleysville, a retired bank executive, died Wednesday at Pottstown Hospital of complications from an infection.

Mr. Reilly grew up in Southwest Philadelphia and graduated from St. Joseph's Preparatory School. After serving in the Army in Korea, he earned a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's University. He then joined Continental Bank, now PNC, in Philadelphia as a trust officer.

He retired in the early 1980s as vice president of trust and estate planning. While at Continental he chaired its United Way campaign and edited the in-house newsletter.

A longtime resident of Havertown before moving to Harleysville six years ago, Mr. Reilly was a former Haverford Township Democratic committeeman and was past president of the Montgomery County Estate Planning Council.

As a member of the Llanerch Civic Association in the 1980s, he helped organize opposition to the commercial use of the former Llanerch school property. The property is now a private school and public playground.

Mr. Reilly walked five miles a day and enjoyed family vacations at the Jersey Shore and in Florida. He was a talented tenor, his daughter Tina Gula said. He sang at weddings and social occasions. "Danny Boy" was his signature song, his daughter said.

Mr. Reilly is also survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy McFadden Reilly; sons Thomas III, Dan, Kevin and Sean; daughters Nancy DiFiore, Maria Razzi and Megan Bethel; a sister and 24 grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, where Mr. Reilly was active with the Seniors Club. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Township.

History suggests that this is going to come to an end soon. History also suggests it won't end the way Jeffrey Lurie envisioned when Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb became the Eagles' dynamic duo.
