Mark A. Bronstein, 59, of Ardmore, a veterinarian on the Main Line for more than 30 years, died Tuesday of kidney cancer at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Mark A. Bronstein, 59, of Ardmore, a veterinarian on the Main Line for more than 30 years, died Tuesday of kidney cancer at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Dr. Bronstein graduated from Germantown High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University, and a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a veterinarian in New Jersey and then worked at Devon Animal Hospital before purchasing Ivens Veterinary Hospital in Ardmore.

He was a Dr. Doolittle, said his wife, Nina Lalli Bronstein. He kept chickens, birds, ducks, goats, four dogs and four cats as pets.

Dr. Bronstein was a member of Temple Shalom in Broomall. He enjoyed photography and star-gazing and was a member of the Dark Sky Astronomy Club. He was family-oriented, his wife said, and never vacationed or socialized without his children.

In addition to his wife of 21 years, Dr. Bronstein is survived by daughters Sarah and Becky; a son, Nathan; and a brother.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Joseph Levine and Son Memorial Chapel, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
