A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., Philadelphia for Richard K. Stevens, 70, of Chestnut Hill.

The attorney and community activist died of complications from lymphatic cancer May 19 at Keystone Hospice in Wyndmoor.

Mr. Stevens was a partner with the law firm of Strong, Stevens and Wyant in Plymouth Meeting, where he specialized in estates and trusts.

Mr. Stevens was born in Philadelphia. He graduated from Germantown Friends School, where he was class secretary. He earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and then he joined his father and two uncles at their law firm in Philadelphia, Stradley, Ronan, Stevens, and Young.

He enjoyed classical music, opera, and bluegrass and in his younger years, sang baritone in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas at the Plays and Players theater in Philadelphia. An accomplished athlete, Mr. Stevens skied and played golf and tennis at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. He was a military history buff.

He is survived by his wife of seven years, Charlene McKenna Stevens; a daughter, Abigail; a son, James; a brother; a sister; and his former wife, Karen Depew Stevens.
