'Plowable' snowfall possible Saturday night

"The amounts and impacts are less certain at this time as this will depend on surface temperatures and snowfall rates," the weather service stated in its short term forecast this morning.

The National Weather Service is calling for snow Saturday night in the Philadelphia region and although it's a bit unclear how much might fall, the agency says it has the potential to be "plowable."

The snow will likely mix with rain or sleet in the Philadelphia region.

Snow is expected to start early Saturday evening, with three to four inches possible by the time you wake up Sunday morning. Lower amounts are expected toward the Jersey Shore and higher accumulations are forecast for areas north and east of the city. But it won't linger long and the rest of the week looks spring-like.

Sunday's high is expected to reach the high 40s.

Then a real warming trend kicks in. On Monday, Presidents' Day, temperatures could reach a high near 50 degrees – though some showers are possible.

Tuesday and Wednesday should see highs hovering around the 70s.  Lows will only fall into the mid-50s.

Temperatures come back down to earth a little by Thursday with a high close to 60 degrees.
