Did you break out the T-shirt yet?
It might be January, and the region may have just wrapped up a historically cold week thanks to a “bomb cyclone” that dumped more than a foot of snow on the Jersey Shore and a kind of cold you could feel in your bones, but Friday’s strange weather is making it acceptable to leave the winter coat at home.
The mercury is going to crawl up to a confusing 64 degrees across the region, according to the National Weather Service, with steady rain throughout the day (April showers, anyone?) before plummeting overnight into Saturday morning to a low of 36 degrees. Old Man Winter raises his ugly head once again — Saturday’s high is forecast to only reach 39 degrees, with a low in the teens. For the Eagles‘ NFC divisional game against the Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday evening, the temperature is forecast to be in the 20s.
It’s not just Philadelphia that’ll experience the strange weather. Residents in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and New York will also be left scratching their heads by the time Sunday rolls around. As with many things, people in Philadelphia and across the mid-Atlantic are taking to social media to comment on the bizarre weather.
From the Shore to a cookout, many saw the roller-coaster temperatures as an excuse to get outside. Nothing like a soggy hotdog.
