Philadelphia region under heat advisory

The mix of heat and humidity could make it feel hotter than 100 degrees.

The National Weather service has issued a heat advisory for Philadelphia and its close-in suburbs.

Temperatures in the upper 80s to mid 90s and dewpoints in the low to mid 70s will make it feel more like 98 to 103 degrees, the NWS Says.

"The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible, the weather service said. adding people should take extra precautions if they work or spend time outside.

Clouds in the morning will give way to more sunshine in the afternoon, according to the forecast. There's a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms Tuesday night and a slight chance of showers Wednesday.

The is no heat advisory at the Shore, where it will mostly sunny in the afternoon. The NWS, however, says there is a high risk for riptides and a small craft advisory is set to go into effect at 3 p.m.
