Fire crews responded to a blaze in Sea Isle City Friday afternoon that reportedly destroyed several beachfront properties.

Fire crews responded to a blaze in Sea Isle City Friday afternoon that reportedly destroyed several beachfront properties.

Preliminary radio reports indicated the fire broke out shortly before 4:40 p.m. on the 7800 block of Pleasure Avenue and tore through at least three homes.

Those three properties were decimated, and surrounding homes may have sustained minor siding damage due to the smoke and heat

High winds reportedly hampered efforts to battle the flames. No injuries were initially reported.

The majority of the fire was brought under control by 6:15 p.m., though crews from Sea Isle, Avalon and Ocean View continued to douse hot spots.

The fire comes about six months after a six-alarm blaze destroyed 50 shops and decimated swaths of the boardwalk in Seaside Park and Seaside Heights.

There's not yet word on the cause of the blaze.
