Hadley to challenge incumbent Adolph

RADNOR A retired venture capitalist will run for state representative in the 165th District against incumbent Republican Bill Adolph.

Chuck Hadley, 58, of Radnor, joined the ballot as a Democrat last month. He said he was approached by county party leaders because candidate Jeremy Fearn dropped out of the race.

Parties can nominate new candidates if one drops out at least 75 days before the election, but Delaware County Republican Party Chairman Andy Reilly criticized the move as a "backroom deal."

Adolph, a Springfield Republican, has represented his Delaware County district for 26 years and chairs the House Appropriations Committee.

Hadley said he faces "an uphill battle" but is running because he wants to "make a difference in the things that are happening in Harrisburg." This will be Hadley's first run for elected office; he has previously been involved in politics as a donor.
