Jewell to represent administration at Gettysburg
President Obama will not attend next month's 150th anniversary ceremony commemorating President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.
Interior Secretary Sally Jewell will represent the administration at the Nov. 19 event at the Soldiers' National Cemetery, the National Park Service said in a statement.
Organizers had hoped the president would be on hand to take part in recognizing the sesquicentennial of Lincoln's historic speech.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning historian James McPherson, author of Battle Cry of Freedom, also will speak, officials said. Gov. Corbett is among the other dignitaries expected to attend.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. The event is free, and reservations are not required. - Amy Worden
