A student at a Michigan high school was detained after tweeting a threat at former Senator Rick Santorum.

The ex-presidential candidate spoke to students at Grosse Point High School. (video here) A conservative group at the school raised $18,000 to pay for Santorum's appearance.

Before Santorum ascended to the high school dais, a student tweeted, "Hey Mr. Santorum, can you sign this bomb for me?"

According to CBS62 in Detroit, the student was taken into police custody and missed the former Pennsylvania Republican's riff on "the beast you feed" and a long anecdote from his former stump speech about a dog that urinated on his lap early in his political career.

The school group said Santorum's speech was nearly canceled by the district superintendent who feared an appearance at the school would be "divisive."
