Trump claims Greta Van Susteren fired for refusing MSNBC's 'Trump' hate

Donald Trump, media critic?

On Saturday morning from his club in Bedminster, N.J., President Trump accused NBC and parent company Comcast, without evidence, of firing Greta Van Susteren because the MSNBC host refused to fall in line with the network’s negative coverage of his administration.

MSNBC has not given a reason why Van Susteren’s show was canceled after just six months, but most pundits point to poor ratings generated by the former Fox News host.

Van Susteren has also declined to elaborate on why she was let go, only saying on Twitter that, “My contract was terminated and it was within their right to terminate it.”

White House reporters and media critics were quick to call out the president for focusing so much on the media.

The tweet comes a day after two MSNBC hosts, Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, accused Trump of attempting to blackmail them into an apology for their coverage of his presidency.

“We got a call from the White House that ‘The National Enquirer is going to run a negative story against you guys. Donald is friends with the guy who runs the National Enquirer,’ ” Scarborough said on Friday, claiming he received multiple calls from three individuals at the top of the Trump administration saying the president would call the Enquirer’s owner David Pecker and spike the story if Scarborough personally apologized to Trump for Morning Joe’s coverage.

“That’s blackmail,” Morning Joe co-host Donnie Deutsch said.

According to multiple reports, one of the high-ranking individuals Scarborough spoke to was Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law.

On Saturday morning, Trump continued to hurl insults at the pair, calling them “Crazy Joe Scarborough” and “dumb as a rock Mika.”

NBC declined to respond to the comments made by the president.

Trump was widely criticized for sending two angry tweets aimed at Scarborough and Brzezinski on Thursday following a segment where the two hosts mocked a fake Time magazine cover  that reportedly had hung in his golf club in Doral, Fla. In the tweets, Trump called the hosts “Low IQ Crazy Mika and Psycho Joe” and alleged Brzezinski was “bleeding badly from a facelift” during a visit to Mar-a-Lago, his Florida club.

“Please just stop. This isn’t normal and it’s beneath the dignity of your office,”  Sen. Ben Sasse (R., Neb.) tweeted at the president shortly after launching his attack.
