Two wealthy Pennsylvania Republicans seeking their party's gubernatorial nomination have already invested a total of more than $10 million in their campaigns, newly released records show.

State Sen. Scott Wagner (R., York), owner of a waste management firm, has lent his campaign $5.6 million and donated an additional $1.6 million, according to a report he filed with state campaign-finance regulators. He raised $2.5 million from other donors, his campaign said.

Paul Mango, a retired Pittsburgh-area business consultant, has donated $6.7 million to his campaign. That accounts for about 80 percent of the $8.4 million he raised.

Mango also reported a $1 million loan from private equity executive Patrick Hampson, who lives in the same town north of Pittsburgh. Mango's campaign had $5.5 million on hand as of last Dec. 31.

Wagner, who spent about $3 million in 2017, ended the year with nearly $6 million in campaign funds.

The candidates' annual reports were due Wednesday. The primary is scheduled for May 15.

Also running are House Speaker Mike Turzai (R., Allegheny), who reported having $1 million in cash, and Pittsburgh-area lawyer Laura Ellsworth. She reported ending the year with more than $400,000.

The Republicans are competing to challenge Gov. Wolf, a Democrat, in November. Wolf's campaign had $11 million on hand at the end of 2017.
