Christie nixes NJ-funded 'yellow dot' program

TRENTON, N.J. - Gov. Chris Christie says he likes the idea of a "yellow dot" program to give emergency responders detailed health information about people in car crashes, but he says New Jersey taxpayers should not pay for it.
Christie announced Monday that he has conditionally vetoed a bill to establish such a program.
Similar programs are popping up around the country. Drivers put yellow dot stickers on their rear windows to let police, firefighters and others know that they've left health information in their glove boxes.
Christie says he would sign a bill that lets local governments set up programs. He says one is already operating in Mount Laurel and does not use any taxpayer money because it is funded through a foundation.
