Kenney tells Chick-fil-A president to take a hike

POSTED: Thursday, July 26, 2012, 5:23 AM

Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy’s recent comments about gay marriage has caused quite a stir across the country and has City Councilman Jim Kenney fired-up.

Last week during a radio show Cathy said, "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about."

Cathy later said that he is supportive of the "biblical definition of the family unit."

In a letter to Cathy, Kenney wrote:

"It is with profound disillusionment and a sense of deep sadness that I write this letter in response to your recent comments. Last week you expressed support for denying gay Americans the prized right of marriage that heterosexual couples in this country so freely take for granted."

"As an American you are legally entitled to your opinion, regardless of how insensitive and intolerant it may be, but as a fellow American and an elected member of Philadelphia City Council; I am entitled to express my opinion as well. So please – take a hike and take your intolerance with you. There is no place for this type of hate in our great City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection."

And when City Council returns in September, Kenney said he will introduce a resolution condemning Cathy and the company. Check out the rest of Kenney’s letter here.

Besides Mark Squilla, and they run neck-to-neck, Kenney is the worst Councilman this city has ever seen. Get rid of those Johnny Doc ploitcal hacks !

Kenney's just being a self promoting dbag. At least he's not trying to ban Chick-Fil-A like that un-American mongoloid slob mayor of Boston.

I understand people want to follow the bible. Of course only the parts of the bible they like, the rest they ignore. But those beliefs should not impede others rights. Yes, Cathy can express his opinions and he like everyone else has to hear the backlash. Jim is speaking up because just like the people had to stand up for race equality, stand up to the massacre of Jews in World War II. Cathy can say his opinion, but we should not be silent about our distaste for discrimination in any form.

As of this morning, there were 202 homicides in this town. Last night, two brothers - 17 and 11 years old, respectively - were gunned down in West Philly. Today, Jim Kenney wrote a letter to the Chick-Fil-A president. Priorities, councilman. Priorities.

I hope this keeps going and Chick-Fil-A's are banned throughout all the major cities.

These political hacks should be out every night marching in those neighborhoods where the thugs have taken over the City and are laughing at the law. They should be leading pickets outside every dope house and nuisance bar. They should be taking the train to Harrisburg and DC getting our tax money back to hire more police and fire personnel. After they do this, then they can wolf chicken vendors.

Jim Kenney cheated on his wife and left her. He also has been seen in "Woody’s" on many occasions. Its common knowledge around City Hall that Kenney is Gay.

Said Kenney: "There is no place for this type of hate in our great City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection."

    Two. Hundred. And. Two. Homicides.

So Kenney's emotions are more important than the jobs of the people at the 7 CFA locations in Philly? Maybe he should let people have their personal opinions and keep the business of the company and the city out of it.

Why does Freedom of Speech not apply to conservative beliefs??
Hey Kenney, you and your co-workers have an intolerance for your true taxpayers while you cater to the non-taxpayers. There's no place for that here either because you can easily see what that has gotten Phila.....thousands of taxpayers moving out and the city going broke.

MikeP, you are the real bigot here. You seem to suggest that homosexuals are neither worthy nor capable of living according to the demands of the Christian Gospel, so you dumb Christianity down or suggest there are no demands whatsoever. You're the typical liberal pseudo-believer who wants Easter without Good Friday, forgiveness without repentance, and salvation without conversion.

Kenney blasts Chick-Fil-A for being "intolerant". What does Kenney call what he's doing, trying to damage a privately held company because the owner exercised his first amendment right to express and opinion. Intolerant, maybe? Stupid....narcissistic....mean-spirited? Definitely.
