Michael P. Donatucci, the chief investment officer of the city's pension fund, died Friday night of an apparent suicide.

The Pennsylvania Burial Company and Baldi Funeral Home said the details of a service had yet to be determined.

Donatucci, 30, was found dead at his Philadelphia home by his fiancée, a person close to the family said. The two were to marry in September.

A son of longtime Register of Wills Ronald Donatucci, Michael Donatucci was hired in April by the city's Board of Pensions and Retirement. Before that, he was an investment strategist for eight years with the Montgomery county-based SEI Institutional Group.

Ronald Donatucci could not be reached for comment.

In recent years, Michael Donatucci had focused on advising private and public institutions, and his portfolio included public and private pension funds. His highest-valued fund was worth $2 billion.

Donatucci, who started the city pension job in June, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008 with his bachelor's degree in economics.
