Philadelphia first lady Lisa Nutter's sense of style is a winner in my book

I've spent the last four years ooh-ing and ah-ing over first lady Michelle Obama, that I've all-but-ignored our city's own first lady, Lisa Nutter, and her sense of style.

And for that I should be ashamed - especially since her looks are the closest thing to perfect I've ever seen. Sorry Mrs. Nutter.

In my defense, Philly's first lady prefers to fly under the fashion radar.  But when she does get dressed out for a night on the town, she's usually in a colorful, form-fitting Nicole Miller dress.

"Lisa is a very confident, stylish woman who appreciates artistic talents," said Mary K. Dougherty owner of the Nicole Miller boutiques in The Bellevue and Manayunk. She pointed out the fact that Mrs. Nutter also integrates local designers into her wardrobe. "She wears the clothes well so well she effortlessly looks good and that makes me look good."

Sounds a lot like another first lady we know. But there I go again on the Michelle Obama tip.

What do you all think  of Lisa Nutter's sense of style?

Why are we questioning this? Don't have any issues against her, and I think her husband is doing an OK job considering the city is corrupt, content, and provincial. Will she make it to Harrisburg or beyond..doubtful.

How about a review of the fashion of the hauntingly attractive Mrs Bob Brady? Or is she not Miss Wellington's type?

I have rarely seen Mrs. Nutter in the press or otherwise. She's a very attractive woman and I believe would have the sense to dress appropriately.

About this blog
I’m a Libra so I’m all about pretty things. We of the scales sign know what we like, and our standards are high. So I can’t help but love fashion – one day I will get that Diane von Furstenberg wrap and those Christian Louboutin shoes. And fragrances? My favorite right now is Chanel Mademoiselle. As for makeup, can we say MAC? So let’s thank the Greek goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, that a true fashionista can find everything she needs right here in Philly. I’ve covered fashion here for six years, and I have traveled to New York, Los Angeles and Paris to write about local and national designers. Let me tell you, there is no place where people wear midnight Eagles green or Phillies red with such wild abandon as they do on the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge. Sound familiar? This blog is for you. Reach Elizabeth at ewellington@phillynews.com.
