Bucks D.A. Heckler won’t face challenger from either party

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler, up for reelection in November, will be unopposed, according to county officials.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler, up for reelection in November, will be unopposed, according to county officials.

John Cordisco, chairman of the Bucks County Democratic Party, said Tuesday that the party will concentrate on other offices up for election, including prothonotary, sheriff, and recorder of deeds.

No challenger surfaced within the Republican Party either, according to Deena Dean, director of the county's Board of Elections. The deadline for candidates to file paperwork to run for various county positions was 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Bucks County Republican Chairwoman Pat Poprik said the party had endorsed Heckler and had not expected a Republican challenger.

Heckler said it was gratifying to be moving forward without an opponent.

"It's obviously satisfying to have assembled a team of people who have done a good job at the work that the people of Bucks County entrusted to us," he said. "I'm happy that nobody thought they could pick enough nits with what we do to run successfully against me."
