Supreme Court justice attends mom's funeral in NJ

HAMILTON, N.J. - Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito Jr. attended his 98-year-old mother's funeral in New Jersey.

Rose Alito died last week. She was a school teacher until she retired in 1984.

The Trentonian newspaper ( http://bit.ly/XypyiU) reports the justice and about three dozen people attended the funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Hamilton Monday. They then went to Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

Sam Alito was born in nearby Trenton in 1950 before the family moved to Hamilton.
