Peco reports that 46,000 customers are without power, 35,500 of them in hard-hit Bucks County.
The Red Cross has opened a shelter / warming-recharging center for Bucks County residents at the Middletown Municipal Building, 3 Municipal Way, in Langhorne.
“Although crews will continue to work through the night, the restoration process will likely take several days given the damage from falling trees that will need to be cleared,” John Latka, Peco’s senior vice president of electric and gas operations, said in a statement Wednesday night. “Driving is treacherous and numerous cars litter the roads, making it extremely difficult for our crews to get around. We are mobilizing additional employees to help with damage assessment so that we can better determine restoration times. We ask our customers to be patient as we deal with these difficult conditions and work to safely restore power.”
PSE&G and Atlantic City Electric report 27,700 customers are without power in South Jersey, 21,000 of them in Burlington County.
Evesham Fire-Rescue has opened its three firehouses as warming-recharging stations.
