The Philadelphia Police Marine Unit had an unusual rescue on the Delaware River in Society Hill.

About  7:30 p.m. Thursday, officers were notified that a deer had become stuck in the mud in the 500 block of South Columbus Boulevard, south of Penn's Landing, officials said.

The unit, along with Game Commission officers, responded.

Footage from CBS3 shows officers trying to lasso the struggling animal. The station reported that after a half-hour the deer was brought on board one of the boats.

No details were available on what happened to the wayward deer after the rescue.
