A Schuylkill County man was killed last week after a pair of tires from a truck broke free and crashed into a nearby diner.

Martin Sheldon Moyer, 74, of Orwigsburg, was hit by flying debris, including a cinder block, as the errant tires broke through the window of Robin's Diner on Route 61 near Schuylkill Haven on Friday, WNEP16 reported.

Moyer was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital before being transferred to a trauma facility in Salisbury Township, where he died of blunt force injuries later that day, LehighValleyLive reported.

"It's very terrifying. You're on a busy highway and we don't know what is coming through. I didn't know if it was a truck, a car, a bomb,"  Robin Moran, owner of Robin's Diner told WNEP16. "We called 911 right away and got as much help here as we could."

The tragedy  began about 8:33 a.m. when the rear drivers-side tires from a Mack CXU truck, driven by Fred W. Clark, 59, of Sicklerville, N.J., broke off. There is no word yet on why the tires flew off. The tires crossed into the nearby R&R Auto Group's parking lot, striking and damaging nine vehicles before crashing into the diner, LehighValleyLive.com reported..

Another diner patron suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by private car to a hospital, the story said.

The restaurant was closed by the damage but the owners told the television station they would rebuild.
