Doug Overton, a former 76ers and La Salle University basketball star, pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection with a case involving indecent exposure on a Lower Merion trail.

Overton, 47, the basketball coach at Lincoln University, pleaded guilty to three counts of disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to undergo psycho-sexual evaluation.

Three counts of indecent exposure were dropped as part of the plea deal.

Prosecutors said Overton took responsibility for his actions and has been cooperative, KYW reported.  Overton and his attorney declined to comment.

Overton had denied the indecent exposure allegations, saying he was urinating.

In a statement at the time, the coach said he walked his dog on the Cynwyd trail several times a week.  On April 30, "during the walk I felt the need to relieve myself. With the nearest bathroom nearly a mile away, I stepped off the trail and into a wooded area to take care of business in what I thought was a discreet manner."

According to court documents, a husband and wife told police they were running east on the trail near Levering Mill Road when they encountered Overton, who appeared to be touching his genitals. He later walked past the women with "his penis outside of his pants," she told police. Another woman told police she had a similar encounter.

Overton played 11 NBA seasons for eight teams, including 94 games with the Sixers during two stints (1996-98, 1999).

After his playing career ended, he coached at St. Joseph's University and for the New Jersey Nets before accepting the job at Lincoln in 2016.
