GLENSIDE Gov. Wolf has selected another Montgomery County venture capitalist to fill the role of Pennsylvania treasurer.

Timothy A. Reese, 51, of Glenside, was nominated Tuesday to replace Rob McCord, who resigned in January before pleading guilty to extortion.

Reese is managing partner of Forge Intellectual Capital L.L.C. and serves on the advisory board of the Securities and Exchange Commission. In 2012, he founded the National Minority Angel Network, an investment firm that aids woman-, veteran- and minority-led businesses.

Wolf, in a statement, said Reese's 20 years of experience in finance, consulting, and entrepreneurship would "help bring stability to the Treasury and refocus the department on its core mission."

Reese graduated from Temple University in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in engineering and returned as a fellow at Temple's Fox School of Business. He is registered as nonpartisan.

If confirmed by the Senate, Reese would serve through 2016, when McCord's term was to end.

McCord, 55, of Bryn Mawr, came from a similar venture-capital background and ran for treasurer in 2008 and 2012 as a reformer. In February, he admitted trying to strong-arm campaign donations in his gubernatorial bid, and is awaiting sentencing. - Jessica Parks
