Mobile app is launched in Norristown

NORRISTOWN The Municipality of Norristown is investing in its digital persona by updating its website and launching a mobile app.

Through the redesigned website, Norristown.org, residents can submit service requests, file Right-to-Know petitions, report power outages, potholes and other complaints.

Norristown Administrator Crandall Jones said in a statement that the moves are part of a larger goal for "improved transparency and access to municipal services."

"These augmentations lay the foundation for us to continue to evolve and expand access to services going forward," he said.

The Norristown mobile app offers real-time alerts, secure payments to the borough, municipal job openings, a town calendar, and a restaurant guide.

The app, developed by the communications firm OCV, is available for free on Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.
