THE BOYFRIEND of a woman found dead near 30th Street Station in February will remain behind bars in Delaware County, authorities said.

Bhupinder Singh, 25, was sentenced Tuesday to four to 23 months in jail for violating his probation in a DUI case from 2010, said Emily Harris, a spokeswoman for the Delaware County District Attorney's Office.

He's incarcerated at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Thornton, where he'd been detained since his extradition back to Delco on Feb. 27.

Singh violated his probation earlier that month when he fled to his parents' house in Solon, Ohio, court documents show. Marple Township police told the Daily News that Singh fled the state the day before Nadia Malik, his longtime girlfriend, was reported missing by her family.

He was arrested at his parents' house Feb. 12, after investigators tracked him there through Malik's cellphone.

Meanwhile, Malik, 22, was found dead Feb. 20 inside a car owned by Singh's parents parked outside 30th Street Station.

Malik's brother Khaled told the Daily News that his family believes Singh is responsible for her death. He provided antagonizing text messages allegedly sent by Singh through Nadia's phone that taunt the family, saying they'll never see her again.

Marple Township police Lt. Barry Williams said yesterday that the investigation into Malik's death, a collaborative effort with Philadelphia police, is ongoing.

No developments have been made in the case, pending results from further tests by the city's medical examiner, Williams said. But having Singh in custody will only aid in any future probing.

"We know now where he is," Williams said, "so that makes everything easier if we do have to file criminal charges."
