Bill proposed to monitor predators
DOYLESTOWN A state lawmaker from Bucks County has authored a bill that would require facilities that counsel sexually violent predators to notify police if they are providing service to those people.
The bill by State Rep. Frank Farry (R., Bucks), was approved this week by the Judiciary Committee, sending it to the full House for consideration.
Sexually violent predators are sex offenders who have been deemed likely to strike again by mental health experts and judges.
"It was brought to my attention that residents and law enforcement officers located near counseling facilities that provide services to individuals deemed as sexually violent may not be aware that the individual is entering their community on a regular basis," Farry said in a statement released by his office. - Ben Finley
