Three die in violent acts over the weekend

Two people were killed by gunfire and another died in a burning car over the weekend, Philadelphia officials said. At 10:37 p.m. Saturday, a 36-year-old man was shot numerous times near 700 W. Venango St. in North Philadelphia. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 42-year-old man was shot in a foot in the same encounter and was listed in stable condition.

Also early Saturday morning, a body was found in a burning 2013 Toyota on the 5300 block of Glenmore Avenue in Kingsessing. The victim had not yet been identified, and the fire remained under investigation.

Just before 7:22 a.m. Sunday, a woman in her early 20s was found lying in the road in the 3200 block of North Bailey Street in North Philadelphia. She had been shot in the face and side of the head, according to police, and was pronounced dead. - Inquirer staff and wire reports
