Delco SPCA gives interim chief permanent post

The Delaware County SPCA has named interim director Richard Matelsky as executive director, effective Monday, it was announced Friday.

Matelsky, of New York City, has been at the privately run animal shelter for nine months. Previously, he was senior manager of the North Shore Animal League on Long Island for 27 years.

He has been at the helm since the Media-based shelter announced it would no longer accept stray animals from municipalities after June 30, in its effort to change to a "no-kill" policy. - Mari A. Schaefer
