Here we go again trying to blame something or someone else (social sites), rather than placing the blame on the parents or the actual thugs that go around doing as they please. Also, SEPTA should do away with the student transpasses, it only allows these thugs free access to all parts of the city. Give two tokens, that way one can limit their traveling. ro19120

Oh my goodness, suing Facebook? Can you list a stupider solution? Ultimately it was the decision of the idiotic lemmings who ran amok Center City. It wasn't the FAULT of Facebook. Facebook has been used in the past (by sane, civilized, respectful people) to achieve very respectable goals (like awareness for an important event)... Seriously, deal with the direct source of the problem. Punish these foolish people who make dumb choices, and also punish their parents because they should also be held responsible. If their parents taught them better, there wouldn't be this type of problem! CT
Comment removed.- good luck with that lawsuit...just another way to displace the blame. Facebook was not the problem...the criminals were the problem.
I agree with holding the parents accountable is a great idea, but I think the easiest solution is to extend the school day. Instead of getting out at 3-330 make it 5-6pm so that kids with working parents dont have a few hours of unsupervised time roaming the street before their parents get home from their day jobs. Obviously a number of the parents likely work other shift than strictly during the day, but I have to imagine the vast majority of parents would be able to be home by 6pm to make sure the kids came home after school. Plus it could only improve education levels in the city, something we very much need. ciz34
Don't shut down the Gallery! These animals will just move to another mall like Franklin Mills. Oh wait, too late! Try this stunt in Neshaminy Mall or Oxford Valley Mall. The police and residents will not put up with it. Keep it in your own zoo animals. Could.It.Really.Be...ColonelAngus
It was never the intention of the creators of Facebook to have it used in this manner. How does the City of Philadelphia think they would win such a lawsuit. It would just be a waste of more tax dollars. cpepe
"Don't just punish the kids, change the laws so the parents can be held liable, too." Excellent idea Micheal .HOWEVER . Most of these thugs are being raised by grandmom, the aunt, foster parent, or someone's cousin that just took them in or the single parent that gave up because they gave up on themselves a long time ago . FJR JR:I wish it was a racial issues but I saw a rainbow of kids in the videos from Fox 29. What should be done is CHANGE the law. How do you do that? Well you call up your city council person (215-686-1776) and you tell them that if they want to continue to occupy their current seat they better come up with a law that makes legal to charge a 17 year old as an adult if they commit a crime. As much as I detest Facebook,Twitter and My Space. Suing them would be a waste of time. But letting them know how their sites are being used might get them to change their policies. vrb1955
Yeah lets blame facebook because these P.O.S parents aren't doing their job... typical! Same people who blame society when their 12 year old kids are running around the streets at 2 in the morning getting into trouble. jkidd49- This type of thing is happening all over the U.S. with young people. In Dallas they texted each other and left out of the school in droves to have a snowball fight which ended up in a large fist fight. The school let them go at it too. As adults we are aware that all laws in society are about self control. I teach in a school and the kids were texting each other to plan a mass skipping of class. Some of them were asking me beforehand, what can the school do if we as hundreds of students just skip class. I told them that there is very little we could do. Fortunately, it ended up they didn't do it because we announced anyone skipping would be suspended...but all in all, in a case of mass anarchy, there is little to be done. You just deal severely with the ones who are caught. Unfortunately the students are not learning enough respect for self, others and societies laws at home...and it is translating into havoc for the common man on the street. So many of these kids parents are in prison or have been in prison, are living supported by drugs and this is the end result. BCRock
The Gallery is a dump! It has been for a long time. I rarely walk through the Gallery, and only to get to the train station. The clientele trolling through there make me sick! I think the city needs to enact laws that hold these miscreant's parents accountable for their animalistic, criminal activities. These parents had better start keeping better tabs on their children. Otherwise, they'll be on the news, crying and screaming nonsense about how their "good boy" or "good girl" was beat up, or stabbed, or shot, etc. If that's the case, then they had it coming to them, as far as I am concerned. cpepe
Maybe the city should focus their efforts and energy on trash collection. the fact that there has not been trash pick up in Faimount area in over two weeks is unacceptable. have these kids man the trucks if they cant afford to pay their employees anymore. This city is quickly slipping. R Mexico
