A 10-year-old South Jersey boy was killed when he rode his skateboard onto a Delaware County street and was struck by an SUV.

Corbin Cuthbert of Mullica Hill was sitting on his skateboard and doing a trick Sunday morning when he came out of a small, almost hidden, alley and onto Roosevelt Drive in Upper Darby, police said. He was visiting family in the area, and he and his 11-year-old sister were playing outside.

The boy rode into the path of a GMC Envoy, and the driver, a 66-year-old man from Ardmore, did not see him, police said. They said the boy was killed instantly. A priest from a nearby parish was called to administer last rites.

Michael J. Chitwood, Upper Darby superintendent of police, said the driver was shaken up and cooperating with police. No charges were anticipated, Chitwood said. - Mari A. Schaefer
