Acela train strikes, kills pedestrian in Folcroft

An Amtrak Acela train struck and killed a pedestrian yesterday in Delaware County. The accident occurred at 3:20 p.m. near the 1500 block of Baltimore Avenue in Folcroft Borough, authorities said.

Marc Magliari, Amtrak spokesman, said he did not know if the pedestrian was an adult or a child. He said that none of the 148 people on the train was injured, and that the train resumed service after a 1-hour, 20-minute delay. He said he did not know the speed of the train at the point of the accident. Service on the R-2 line to Wilmington was shut down temporarily during the investigation, SEPTA officials said. - Mari A.
