1 dead, 1 hurt in wreck on I-95 in L. Makefield

The passenger was killed and the driver injured Friday night in a one-car crash on I-95 in Lower Makefield Township.

Anthony Hernandez-Candelario, 21, of College Park, Md., lost control of a Honda Accord, struck a road sign, and crashed into a tree, police said.

Yonny M. Ortiz-Candelario, 19, of Paterson, N.J., was pronounced dead at the scene. Hernandez-Candelario was taken to St. Mary Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police said speeding was a factor in the crash and were investigating whether alcohol played a role. - Mari A. Schaefer
