TRENTON - New Jersey's environmental chief says the state will not close parks or raise user fees this season, but camping, entrance, and other fees might go up next year.

Mark Mauriello, the Department of Environmental Protection's acting commissioner, told a Senate budget committee yesterday that despite proposed budget cuts for the fiscal year starting July 1, state parks will be open for business. After yesterday's hearing, Mauriello said that user fees might be raised in 2010. - AP
