HARRISBURG - With more than two-thirds of districts reporting results from a special state Senate election, the Republican candidate was maintaining a strong lead late last night.

With 151 out of 218 districts reporting, Republican State Rep. David Argall, who faced Democratic Schuylkill County Clerk of Courts Steve Lukach in the special election, had about 60 percent of the vote.

They were vying to replace State Sen. James Rhoades, who died in a car crash in October. The 29th District covers all of Schuylkill County and parts of Berks County, the Lehigh Valley, and the Poconos.

Argall was leading every county in the district except Monroe County, which wasn't reporting results late last night. - AP
