Fatal shooting and drive-by possibly related

Chester City police say the slaying on Monday of a Chester man and a drive-by shooting the same day might be related.

Around 4 p.m., police were called to the 300 block of Palmer Street on a report of gunfire. Daniel A. Jenning, 37, was found in the driver's seat of a car, with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

At 6:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a drive-by shooting. Tawan Loper, 23, was taken by a family member to Crozer-Chester's emergency room with a gunshot wound to the leg, for which he was treated. He told police he was on the 1600 block of West Ninth Street when he was shot. Police said they found the crime scene and shell casings in the 800 block of Tilghman Street.

Police said they had no suspects, and asked anyone with information to call Detective Nelson Collins at 610-447-8431 or Detective James Diromualdo at 610-891-4700.
