Umbrella-toting gunmen steal $70K in phones from Mt. Laurel Verizon Wireless

Two masked gunmen made away with $70,000 worth of cell phones during the robbery of a Mount Laurel Verizon Wireless store, police announced Friday.

The men entered the store on Dearborn Circle shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, according to investigators.

Police said the suspects, both of them armed with handguns, carried umbrellas and wore black masks to shield themselves from surveillance cameras.

They allegedly forced the employees and customers into a rear office area, then directed the employees into the stockroom. There, the men ordered the workers to fill bags with cell phones, police said.

The suspects are described as two black males with facial hair. Police said one of them is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds, while the second is about 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs about 250 pounds.

The men were last seen exiting a rear door of the store and fleeing toward Route 38, according to investigators.
