S.J. man charged in burning down family home

A South Jersey man has been charged with arson and aggravated assault after allegedly torching his family home in Deptford. The June 14 blaze injured a township firefighter when part of a wall of the house collapsed, burning the firefighter's neck.

The fire destroyed the Haggas Avenue residence, which was unoccupied at the time.

Bret A. Henderson, 49, was captured June 22 in Gwinnett County, Georgia, by U.S. Marshals. He has waived extradition and is expected to be returned to New Jersey, said Bernie Weisenfeld, spokesman for the Gloucester County prosecutor.
