An animal control officer removed the raccoon carcass from the yard of the Waterford Township home Tuesday morning and submitted it to the state public health laboratory for testing.

The Camden County Health Department was notified Thursday that the animal was rabid, according to a news release issued by the county.

The dogs are current with their rabies vaccinations and received boosters from their veterinarian, the release states. Still, state regulations dictate they be confined and observed for 45 days.
