Police warn of ‘heroin pills’ in New Jersey

Police in South Jersey are warning the public about what investigators are calling a “new form of heroin” that’s reportedly being distributed in Camden and Gloucester counties.

Police in South Jersey are warning the public about what investigators are calling a "new form of heroin" that's reportedly being distributed in Camden and Gloucester counties.

"Heroin pills" are designed to resemble the prescription painkiller oxycodone but are made from a mix of crushed opiate pharmaceuticals and heroin, the Pitman Police Department said in a news release.

Three of the pills were found in Pitman and surrendered to the police department Thursday morning, investigators said.

The pills are described as blue or blue-green with brown speckles and are stamped with a capital "M" inside a box on one side and the number "30" on the other, police said.

Anyone with information about the sale of "heroin pills" or any other illegal drug activity within the borough is asked to contact the Pitman Police Department.
