A Camden man was arrested Tuesday night after he allegedly tried to stab a police officer with an ice pick.

Officers responded around 7:40 p.m. to a domestic incident in South Camden involving 24-year-old Jerrick Lawrence, according to a news release from the Camden County Police Department.

Lawrence allegedly ran from the scene, sparking a foot pursuit.

As officers caught up with him and wrestled him to the ground, Lawrence swung an ice pick and tried to stab one of them before being disarmed and taken into custody, police said.

He remained imprisoned Wednesday at the Camden County Jail in lieu of $85,000 cash bail or bond after being charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and weapons offenses.
