N.J. traffic stop leads to arrest for stolen submachine gun

A New Jersey man was arrested after police found a stolen submachine gun and ammunition in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

New Jersey State Police said troopers pulled 25-year-old Raheem Jacobs over in Bridgeton City, Cumberland County, after he failed to stop at a stop sign.

A trooper noticed a gun under the driver's seat and recovered a .40-caliber submachine gun, police said. The firearm was loaded with hollow point rounds.

Police say the weapon was stolen from Florida. Officers searched the vehicle, and found another gun and ammunition: a .38-caliber revolver with hollow point bullets and a high-capacity magazine that contained 29 .40-caliber rounds.

Jacobs, of Bridgeton City, was charged with a number of weapons-related offenses, and with receiving stolen property, officials said.
