South Jersey man and woman charged with sexually assaulting girl

A man and woman were charged with sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13 in Westville, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said Friday.

Gabriel Torres, 42, and Mary B. Giannone, 51, both of Westville, were arrested Thursday. Torres is accused of assaulting the girl over a period of more than a year and Giannone of taking part one day at the start, authorities said.

Torres was charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child between October 2015 and December 2016. Giannone was charged with sexual assault by contact and endangering the welfare of a child on Oct. 14, 2015.

They are being held in Salem County Jail pending detention hearings, prosecutors said.
