Lindenwold man charged in drug overdose death

Kevin Croxton, 26, of Lindenwold, is charged with strict liability for a drug-induced death for allegedly selling heroin to another man who died of a drug overdose.

A Lindenwold man is accused of selling heroin to another man, just hours before the victim died of a drug overdose.

Kevin Croxton, 26, was charged Thursday with first-degree strict liability for a drug-induced death, according to a news release from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

The overdose victim, identified only as a 29-year-old Laurel Springs man, was found dead at his home April 6.

Detectives used cell phone records and other evidence to identify Croxton as the suspect who allegedly sold the man heroin, according to investigators.

Prosecutors said the drug deal took place in Lindenwold, mere hours before the victim's death.

Croxton was also charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, and possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property.

He faces up to 20 years in prison on the strict liability count alone, prosecutors said.

He is imprisoned in Camden County Jail, where he was already being held Thursday on unrelated charges.

Croxton was one of six people arrested during a drug raid in July, when Lindenwold police executed simultaneous search warrants at three buildings in the Arborwood apartment complex.

He was charged with narcotics and firearm offenses in connection with that bust.
