'Hurricane' Schwartz: A sunny weekend forecast

Note: This is a previous forecast.  For the current outlook please go to Philly.com's weather page, powered by NBC10.

SO WHAT ABOUT THIS WEEKEND?

The southwest wind will shift to the northwest on Saturday. That will bring in air that is a bit cooler and less humid. So the heat index, which reached around 100 degrees Friday, will only be around 90.

It's still hot for June, but not nearly as sweltering.

The Jersey Shore, however, will be warmer on Saturday. The northwest wind will be a land breeze, at least during the morning. Temperatures should get into the 80s before the cooling sea breeze in the afternoon drops it into the 70s. The Delaware beaches will also get into the 80s - at least. The beaches closest to Delaware Bay will be cooler.

On Sunday, all beaches should get a cooling ocean wind, keeping temperatures in the 70s. There is a chance of some showers developing in southern parts of our area. The most significant change will be in the Poconos, where the next round of moisture will hit first. Showers and thunderstorms could move in there Sunday afternoon.
