Workers installing pool find human remains at S.J. home

Workers installing a swimming pool discovered a set of human remains Monday afternoon in South Jersey.

The remains were found in the backyard of a home on the 600 block of Banks Street in Riverton, Burlington County.

"The remains appear to be very old," said Joel Bewley, spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's office. "There's no indication of foul play and no reason for the public to be concerned."

A crime scene unit is at the scene and a forensic anthropologist from the New Jersey State Police will examine the discovery this afternoon, Bewley said. In the meantime, construction of the pool has come to a stop.
