Girl, 16, accused of slashing teen's face on Pennsauken school bus

A teen is accused of stabbing another teen in the face Thursday afternoon on a school bus outside Pennsauken High School.

A teen is accused of stabbing another teen in the face Thursday afternoon on a school bus outside Pennsauken High School.

Investigators said a 16-year-old girl was standing near the front of the Pennsauken school bus around 2 p.m., when another 16-year-old girl allegedly slashed the side of her face with a sharp object.

Police said both the suspect and victim are Pennsauken residents but did not specify whether they attend the high school.

A Pennsauken police officer happened to be at the scene and immediately arrested the alleged attacker, according to investigators. The teen, who is charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses, will be transferred to the Camden County Youth Detention Center, prosecutors said.

The victim was rushed to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Investigators said Thursday evening that her injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Pennsauken Police Chief John Coffey, in a statement, called the attack atypically violent and said that, though police have responded to fights at Pennsauken High School in the past, they typically do not involve weapons and do not result in such serious injuries.
