Cops: Teen had 257 bags of coke and heroin
Police in Camden City arrested a 17-year-old over the weekend night and found he had 257 bags of cocaine and heroin in his possession.
Camden County police said they were on patrol in North Camden about 9:40 p.m. Sunday when they spotted a drug transaction between two people near Willard and Vine streets.
Responding officers arrested the teen allegedly selling the drugs. Police said the youth was holding 201 heat-sealed bags of cocaine, 56 bags of heroin and $2,484 in cash. He was charged with distribution of a controlled and dangerous substance, and possession within 1,000 feet of a school, among other counts.
After a court appearance, he was placed in the county juvenile detention facility at the Lakeland complex in Gloucester Township.
“This arrest is another example of how proactive policing allows us to address community concerns such as open-air drug dealing,” said Chief J. Scott Thomson.
