Concert series at Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN Free lunchtime musical acts will again be presented on Rutgers-Camden's campus this summer.

Events in the Mallery Concert Series will be held at noon on several Tuesdays, with the first slated for next week.

"It's a nice way to spend an afternoon," said Joseph Schiavo, director of the concert series.

Schiavo, associate dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, said the performances have become increasingly popular since their inception in 1986. At this point, he said, musicians reach out to him to inquire about performing.

This summer, pianist Bice Horszowski will again travel from Genoa, Italy, to perform on July 14. Other performers include pianist Molly Vivian Huang next Tuesday, the Atlantic City Jazz Band on June 16, jazz musicians Eric and Susan Polack on June 30, pianist Andrew Willis on July 7, and the South Jersey-based jazz-blues ensemble Quartet 33 on July 21.

The performances are held in the Mallery Room, on the second floor of the Fine Arts Building on Third Street.

On concert days, spectators can park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Rutgers Lot 14, which is located between Third and Pearl Streets.
