Stray bullet hits girl sleeping in suburban home

At least 11 shots were fired, but three other girls in the bedroom were not injured.

One of four girls sleeping in a South Jersey bedroom was struck by one of about a dozen bullets fired from the street early this morning.

The 13-year-old girl, who was wounded in the lower back, was treated at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she was in stable condition, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Flying glass cut a 56-year-old woman who also lives on the first block of Hathaway Drive in Winslow Township. She treated at the scene, officials said.

About 12:45 a.m., "both victims were injured by shots fired in what appears to be a gunfight outside on Haywood Drive near its T-intersection with Hathaway," according to a news release.

Eleven shell casings were found, according to NBC10.

The four girls were reportedly sleeping on two bunk beds.

No arrests were made, and no suspects or motives were known to authorities.
