Body of missing N.J. college senior found

The body of a New Jersey college senior who has been missing for the past month has been found.

Paige Aiello, a senior and tennis captain at the College of New Jersey, went missing after leaving her family's Hillsborough home on April 9.

Her body was found under the George Washington Bridge, where Aiello's purse was located last month, on Wednesday.

"It is with a heavy heart that we report to you that the body recovered yesterday is that of Paige," a message on the Find Paige Aiello Facebook page, run by her family and friends, says. "We want to thank each and every one of you for never gaving up hope and continuing to help try and find Paige. At this time, we ask for your continued prayers and support for Paige's family, friends and community during this most difficult time."

Aiello was expected to graduate from the Mercer County college this month.

John Donohue, the school's vice president for college advancement, told NJ.com that the 22-year-old had completed her coursework and will be recognized during graduation cereominies.

"She earned her degree," he said.

It was not immediately clear how she died. Authorities have said they do not suspect foul play in her disappearance.

New York's harbor police found her body on rocks under the bridge near 158th Street.
